Fine Antique 11.5 Signed Meissen Hand-Painted & Raised Gold Porcelain Plate. Fine Antique 11.5 Signed Meissen Hand-Painted & Raised Gold Porcelain Plate, circa 1890. We feature a growing selection of Oriental, Chinese and Ethnic antiques. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is a fine 19th C. Signed Meissen plate featuring a hand-painted floral twig, surrounded by raised & gilded pears, oranges, and flowers, The plate measures 11.5″ in diameter, and about 2″ tall. It is signed with the Meissen crossed swords mark on the underside, and has a faint 3/8 (intentional) scratch above the mark, possibly indicative of second quality (although I have always seen a double scratch, and it is always on the crossed sword). The plate is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, or discoloration. The gilt is bright, original, and about 95 intact. There is an oddity, that on the extreme edge, there are 6 pin size spots where the porcelain underneath the gilt shows. These are not chips, and are completely smooth to the touch, so it is simply an issue of loss to the gilt. They are hard to notice, and may be the reason for the “slash” indicated above, as 4 of them look like they may have occurred during firing (see last photo). The other two look like wear spots. Overall, this is a beautiful example, just accurately described. This quote is for the Continental U. International Buyers Please Note. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
