Rare Moser Cranberry Cabochon Gold Filigree CVD Bowl
RARE MOSER CRANBERRY CABOCHON GOLD FILIGREE CVD BOWL. Condition: Excellent little to no signs of wear or use, no noteworthy issues. No chips or cracks. Piece comes from an estate in Pennsylvania and the lady apparently never used or seldom used, or was a displayed cabinet piece in MUSEUM QUALITY condition. Please note that in some photos the gilt filigree shows blurry but is only the photograph due to the angles of the fluted panels around the circumference. This covered bowl is elegantly done with deep cut cranberry cabochons around the sides (12) total on the top cover portion and matching 12 total on the lower portion of the bowl all corresponding to the lightly fluted 12 panels around the circumference of bowl and cover. This is wonderful hand-painted 24 kt gold filigree designs. This piece is not only amazing in detail but simply stated stunning and befitting of the finest table. SO VERY ELEGANT AND DID I MENTION THE FINEST OF GLASS!! The cabochons are painted with 24 kt. Gold surrounding the edges, also the top cut finial is attached with the panel-faceted technique, solid crystal and is handpainted in 24 kt gold. Incredible workmanship and detail throughout even the small clear portions between the cranberry cabochons on the sides of both top and bottom are hand-painted gold filigree designs. The bowl sits on a footing lavished with 24K gold and again panel-faceted, a Moser technique along with the filigree gold in inside the glass surrounding the cabochons. As in this case and also noted in reference books on Moser Glass, few pieces of Moser glass are found signed and probably had a paper label originally. If you have the book on Moser Artistic Glass (Edition 2) by Gary D. Baldwin additionally on page 100 two plates (60 and 61) showing other moser cabochon decorated glasswares. I’ve cleaned this up and allover the gold trims and designs are flawless and free of any noteworthy gilt loss or wear and there are no chips, cracks or noteworthy damages. ALSO: Noted for accuracy and upon very, very close examination I found very tiny small surface scratches on the underside base, none of which distract from value or overall presentation. The Moser Cabochon glassware is not often found other than the few items I’ve had from this estate. It is not included in this sale.
